It's hard to overstress the importance of highways in the contemporary world. And it's not just the economics factor I'm talking about; roads and cars are vital to the ways people socialize, recreate and have fun. A car makes it easy to go visit your friends, relatives, or go camping. You can travel around your own country and even abroad.
And every person roaming the roads, whether familiar or unexplored, certainly knows the feelings of freedom and expectation that arise along the road.
Like Butch said in «A Perfect World»:
This [car] is a 20th Century time machine. Out there... that's the future. Back there... that's the past. If life's moving too slow and you wanna' project yerself into the future you step here on the gas.
So this site presents photographs of the roads taken in different places and times by different people.
